Roosevelt Students and Staff To Benefit from Gesa Credit Union’s Local Heroes GrantPosted by Laura Harper on 11/7/2021
Roosevelt Elementary students and staff will benefit from a Gesa Credit Union’s Local Heroes Grant. As one of 23 recipients in Washington state, the Roosevelt Booster Club received $5000.00 in funding.
With the award money, the Roosevelt Booster Club plans to provide the Roosevelt staff and students with tools they need to strengthen the positive, pro-active school culture that makes Roosevelt a great place to learn and work. Roosevelt staff and students follow the BEAR Expectations every day: Be safe (B), Expect success (E), Act responsibly (A), and Respect all (R). Each day at Roosevelt, teachers teach, model, and reinforce our BEAR Expectations as part of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) to strengthen our students' academic achievement, behavior, and social-emotional wellness.
The Gesa Local Heroes Grant willl provide funding to stock Roosevelt's BEAR Store, to purchase bilingual BEAR Expectations posters, and to provide attendance incentives for students and families. Strengthening Roosevelt's BEAR Expectations and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) is a powerful way to accelerate student learning, especially after the impacts of COVID.
“Gesa recognizes and appreciates our local heroes who serve our communities across Washington state,” said Richard Waddle, Executive Vice President of Gesa Credit Union. “We’re thrilled to honor the invaluable work that the Roosevelt Booster Club has done, and we thank them for their selfless efforts in serving our community.” The mission of the Roosevelt Booster Club is to promote the success of students at Roosevelt Elementary School by supporting its teachers, students, and families
Gesa Credit Union’s Local Heroes Grant Program provides grants to organizations that support local heroes including firefighters, law enforcement, teachers and veterans in the state of Washington.
