Hi, I'm Howie!

Howie the Border Collie would like to welcome YSD families to the new Health and Wellness Education (HWE) Center! The center is located at 331 N. 1st Street in Yakima. The mission of HWE is to provide YSD families with health guidance and support needed for the educational success of students. Some of the resources HWE will offer include:

  • Physical and mental health care
  • Case management
  • Disease Prevention
  • Educational opportunities  

Look for Howie and the kids to find health-related information throughout the school year!

Flu Activity in Yakima County Classified as "Very High"

Flu activity in Washington State, including Yakima County, is now classified as "very high" and continues to rise. Residents are encouraged to get vaccinated to reduce the risk of severe illness and protect the community. Vaccines for flu, COVID-19, and RSV are available. For vaccine locations and resources, visit www.yakimahealthdistrict.org.

Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Information

Pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, is a contagious respiratory disease characterized by severe coughing fits. Vaccination is the best protection against this illness. For more information and guidance, please visit the Washington State Health Department.

Sports Physicals

LOCATION: Health & Wellness Education Center 331 N. 1st St. Yakima, WA 98901

Pacific Northwest University medical students will be providing free sports physicals. No appointment is needed, but due to limited availability, walk-ins will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Saturday, January 25: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Monday, February 10: 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
  • Monday, February 24: 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
  • Monday, March 24: 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
  • Saturday, April 26: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Monday, May 19: 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
     

Vaccine Clinics

LOCATION: Health & Wellness Education Center 331 N. 1st St. Yakima, WA 98901

Free childhood vaccines for children aged 6 months to 18 years. If insured, please provide an insurance card. Vaccines are at no cost for the uninsured. Due to limited availability, walk-ins will be based on first come, first served.
