As part of our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities for all students, the Yakima School District has open enrollment to out-of-district families as available. Please familiarize yourself with pages 10-14 (section 4.2) of district operational procedure 3131 (espanol 3131S).

Participating Schools
K-8th Grade
Classroom space is available at nearly all elementary and middle schools for out-of-district families, with the exception of Adams Elementary School, where all classrooms are currently full.
For classroom space availablity, please contact Student Enrollment at 509-573-7021.
9th-12th Grade
The Yakima School District already provides, based on availability, school of choice at our high school level for in boundary students.
2026-2027 school year open registration for non-resident students will be June 22, 2026 - July 10, 2026. Please provide the following documentation for prior review:
- Academic transcript
- Prior year attendance record
- Discipline record
Please drop off all documentation at the Central Services Enrollment Office located at 104 N. 4th Ave.
How To Enroll An Out-Of-District Student
- Complete an enrollment packet online or in-person at 104 N 4th Ave, Yakima WA 98902
- Submit a Non-Resident Student Annual Request For Admission Form (English I Spanish)
- Submit a release from your current resident school district by completing the choice transfer request.
- Submit documentation to establish student's age
Acceptable documents include a religious, hospital or physician certificate showing date of birth; an entry in a family bible; an adoption record; an affidavit from a parent; a birth certificate; or previously verified school records. - Submit immunizations records
