Health & Wellness Center nurses Glenda and Angelica were recognized with the Saved a Life Award from SNOW.

Congratulations to Glenda Sanchez and Angelica Alcala-Sanchez, nurses for Yakima School District’s Health and Wellness Center, for receiving the Saved a Life Award from the School Nurse Organization of Washington (SNOW)!

Glenda and Angelica were recognized during SNOW’s virtual Spring Conference in March for their quick thinking and heroic actions in two separate emergencies.

Glenda administered Narcan to a student in need before emergency responders arrived. Angelica acted swiftly at a Health & Wellness Education clinical event to prevent a child from choking.

“Both of these experienced nurses provide amazing care to students every day,” said Amy Norton, Director of Health Services at HWE. “Their quick action in times of urgent need are a testament to the skill and service they bring to our district. I truly appreciate what they bring to the students and staff here in Yakima.”

These moments are powerful reminders that school nurses save lives in many ways. Always prepared to respond in a crisis, Glenda and Angelica exemplify the compassion, skill, and dedication it takes to keep our schools healthy and safe.

Please join us in celebrating these outstanding nurses and the incredible impact they make every day!
