On August 14, Yakima Rotary Club volunteers rolled up their sleeves to organize and pack supplies for students at McClure Elementary School. Their efforts ensured that all McClure students will start the new year with the tools they need to learn and succeed.

In addition, Yakima Rotary purchased backpacks for McClure Elementary students, which will ease the financial burden for families and help students feel confident and prepared. McClure teachers also received electric pencil sharpeners and donations of lunchboxes and matching backpacks provided by JCPenney.

Yakima Rotary’s President, Sheri Bissell, attended McClure Elementary and chose the school as this year’s beneficiary, making the act of giving back even more meaningful, knowing it directly benefits her alma mater.

The Yakima School District extends its heartfelt thanks to the Yakima Rotary Club for its generosity, time, and dedication. Their continued partnership makes a lasting difference for our students, our schools, and our community, as students prepare for their first day of school on August 27.

This story aligns with Goal 2 of our Strategic Plan: all students will develop habits and behaviors that elevate student voice, resilience, and personal ownership in a safe, caring, and supportive environment. To learn more about our strategic plan, visit ysd7.org/strategicplan.
