Students Explore Washington's Fossils and Geology
  • Elementary

Fourth graders explored Washington’s geology with a presentation from the Wenas Mammoth Foundation.

Just before Spring Break, McKinley fourth-graders had the opportunity to experience a special presentation from the Wenas Mammoth Foundation. The visit included a hands-on lesson about Washington’s geological history and the ongoing discovery of fossils in the region.

Students toured the Foundation’s mobile exhibit, which featured real fossils, casts, petrified wood, and volcanic sediment samples. A highlight of the day was the chance to touch an authentic mammoth tusk. The experience sparked lots of excitement and curiosity among students, who returned to class eager to share what they learned!
