Ridgeview Elementary Hosts Literacy Night with Special Guest Author Ally Cheney

Ridgeview Elementary hosted Literacy Night last month to encourage students and families to read and write! Included was a special guest: Ally Cheney, the author of "Dear Little One”. She joined for an interview and a special book reading. Ally has deep connections with our district – her mother-in-law works for Yakima School District and has previously worked with Ridgeview students. Currently a special education para with a neighboring district, Ally’s writing was inspired through her own childhood experiences and wanted every child to hear the words of affirmation that they all deserve. She was gracious enough to bring 10 autographed versions of her books to hand out to students – they loved having a copy of their very own to take home! A huge thank you to Ally for sharing her writing experience and joy of stories with our students and families. Another thank you to the 21st Century program who provided every student a book to take home with them!
