The Yakima School District welcomed approximately 175 community members to its first-ever Health Fair.

The Yakima School District welcomed approximately 175 community members to its first district-wide Health Fair on July 1 at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, helping connect students and families with free health screenings, wellness resources and community services.

The event was designed to make important health care more accessible by bringing a variety of free services together in one convenient location. Families had the opportunity to receive blood pressure, vision, and diabetes screenings, along with BMI assessments, telehealth services, vaccine education and other wellness resources. Food was also provided, creating a welcoming space for families to learn, ask questions and prioritize their health.

One attendee shared: “I haven't had a health screening in over five years. Having these free services available in one place made it easy for me to finally get checked."

The Yakima School District extends its sincere thanks to the Washington State Department of Health's Care-a-Van Mobile Health Services, Molina Healthcare, and our Nutrition Services for partnering to make this event possible. This collaboration and commitment to expanding access to health care and wellness resources helped ensure families had the opportunity to connect with valuable services in one convenient location.

By making preventive health services easier to access, the district continues to invest in the well-being of students, families and the broader Yakima community.
