Spring at Nob Hill Elementary brought some of the most exciting learning moments of the year! Students across grade levels dove into hands-on projects and special events that made the end of the school year anything but ordinary.

History Came Alive with a Special Guest

For first graders, history leaped off the page on a special Friday afternoon when guest speaker Mr. Ed visited to bring the Lewis and Clark Expedition to life. Students had the rare opportunity to see and touch real animal pelts and furs, elk antlers, and other authentic artifacts.

The highlight of the afternoon? Making pemmican, a traditional survival food used by the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Student explorers mixed oats, honey, dried fruits, and beef jerky! It was a fun, engaging afternoon full of curiosity and adventure.

4th Grade Wax Museum Brings History to Life

Fourth graders wrapped up their biography unit in a truly unforgettable way with the annual Nob Hill Wax Museum. After weeks of researching influential historical figures, such as inventors, activists, athletes, and leaders, students transformed into the people they studied, sharing their stories, accomplishments, and impact with visitors.

The event was a wonderful celebration of research, public speaking, and creativity. The dedication and confidence students brought to this project made for an impressive showcase that the whole community could be proud of.

The Yakima School District is proud to spotlight the creative, hands-on learning happening at Nob Hill Elementary and applauds their staff for creating such special experiences for students.
