At Davis High School, Mr. Rist's Photography students recently had an exciting opportunity to put their skills to the test: stepping behind the lens to collaborate with the Yakima Fire Department, capturing professional badge photos and images the department will proudly use in their official work.

Students used professional studio lighting, equipment and a backdrop. Through hands-on practice with portrait photography techniques, like proper lighting setups, composition, and directing subjects, students built the confidence and technical skills needed to deliver quality results for a meaningful community partner.

This collaboration is one of many career-connected experiences that the Yakima School District works to provide our students. Students gained firsthand insight into what it means to meet a client's needs, produce work to a professional standard, and contribute something of real value to the community they call home. We are incredibly proud of Mr. Rist and his Photography students for rising to the occasion and representing Davis High School so well.

Thank you to the Yakima Fire Department for this wonderful partnership!

This story aligns with Yakima School District’s Strategic Goal #5: All students will successfully navigate the critical transitions in their schooling, and will graduate from high school prepared for college, career, and post-secondary experiences.
