Davis High and Franklin Middle Schoolers earn top honors at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.
Davis High School’s Jazz 1 students recently hit a high note at the prestigious Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, competing against top high school jazz bands from across the Pacific Northwest. After placing first in their category, the group was named one of just three "sweepstakes" finalists, earning a spot to perform in front of a sold-out crowd at the ICCU Arena alongside Century High School and Las Vegas Academy of the Arts.
Franklin Middle School's Jazz Band also delivered an impressive performance at the festival, earning second place among 14 middle school ensembles from across the Northwest. The Franklin musicians demonstrated exceptional talent, with three students receiving Outstanding Solo Awards:
