Yakima School District celebrated Taste of Washington Day with a District-wide "Apple Crunch."

In honor of Taste of Washington Day last week, the Yakima School District transformed snack time into a memorable moment of community connection.

The sound of students and staff crunching into fresh Washington apples echoed across every school building, the bus depot, technology centers, and administrative offices throughout the district.

The celebration was simple yet powerful: everyone received a crisp apple and was invited to take a bite, then capture the fun through photos. The response was terrific, with images pouring in from every school across the district.

"This was a fun way to celebrate our agricultural heritage while bringing our entire district together," said Marcia K. Wagner, Assistant Director of Child Nutrition. "We're connecting our students to the Yakima Valley's rich farming traditions."

As one of the nation's premier agricultural regions, the Yakima Valley is known for its apple orchards. This district-wide celebration allowed students to appreciate the important work happening on farms throughout Washington State.

Thank you to everyone who participated in making this Taste of Washington Day a crunchy, memorable success!
