CTE Program Advisory Board & Community Partners
-
ADVISORY COMMITTEES
One of the roles of our local partners is to function as an Advisory Board to provide input and collaborate in the development and ongoing success of our programs.
The CTE Program Advisory Board is formed from a group of local business people, parents, students and teachers who meet regularly to provide resources and shape the overall delivery of each program.
These resources can include: classroom participation, presentations, coaching, judging competitions, mentoring, job shadowing, internships, scholarships, and field trips. Advisory Committees also provide advocacy and projects for students.
Advisory Committees are critical to the education of students for several reasons:
The primary purpose is to help improve the quality of instruction in programs that prepare our youth for all career pathways.
They are the most efficient way for public Career and Technical Education programs to meet the economic needs of the community. Lacking such committees, schools would operate without critical business, industry and labor input.
Schools are public entities and Advisory Committees comprise one way in which the public can influence the educational process.
Advisory Committees offer one of the best tools for ensuring that Career and Technical Education programs reflect the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed by employees in their respective occupations.
Advisory Committees do not have administrative or programmatic authority.
