Required Immunizations

Washington State Immunization Law requires all students attending public schools (preschool - 12th grade) to provide proof of immunization, a medical exemption signed by a physician, or an exemption signed by a parent or legal guardian before entering school.

All students will receive necessary school supplies directly from their school.  Please note that backpacks will not be provided.

General Communication

The Yakima School District uses ParentSquare to communicate with all parents and guardians. This includes messages from your child's school and teacher, attendance notifications, conference sign-ups, weather alerts, and more. Visit our ParentSquare webpage to register.

Emergency & Weather Communication

Students who do not have a district-assigned laptop will be provided a laptop at their school during normal school hours. Parents/guardians do not need to be present for their child to receive a laptop. Visit the Student Tech Support page for more information.

The district recognizes the greater opportunities for students and the valuable contribution made to the total school program through the volunteer assistance of parents and other citizens. To learn more about how to volunteer, please reference Operational Policy 5630.

We are thrilled to share that Right At School, a nationally recognized provider of before and after school enrichment programs, will be available at several elementary schools for the 2025–2026 school year.

For the upcoming year, the program will be available at Nob Hill, Gilbert, and McClure Elementary Schools.

Additionally, the following elementary schools look forward to offering the program if more students enroll: Martin Luther King Jr., Robertson, Roosevelt, Hoover, Whitney, Ridgeview, Garfield, McKinley, and Adams.

Right At School offers kindergarten through 5th-grade students enriching activities before school starting at 6:30 a.m. and after school until 6:00 p.m., every day school is in session.

Going on three years, every YSD campus has been equipped with the Centegix Crisis Alert system, empowering any staff member to initiate a campus-wide lockdown with just a few clicks of a badge. Whether the need is urgent medical help or a threat to student safety, this system ensures a rapid, coordinated response.
