    Dear Roosevelt Families:

In just a few weeks, our Roosevelt students and staff will be returning to learningThis fall, we’re looking forward to full-time, in-person instruction.  Our goal is to work collaboratively with you throughout this year to help your child learn, grow, and flourish.  We believe that you are our most important partners, and your partnership ensures that your child has the very best opportunity for success.

We have several amazing staff members joining our Roosevelt team this year:

    • We have 2 new classroom teachers: Mrs. Dawn Perez (2nd grade) and Mrs. Jeniah Jackson (special education).

    • We have 5 new team members to support students and instruction: Mrs. Kyleen Welch and Mrs. Andie Olson (interventionists), Mrs. Tara Dobbie (Multilingual Learners), and Ms. Jennifer Roscher (instructional facilitator), and Mrs. Marissa Scroggins (school psychologist).

    • Mrs. Genesis Guardado, Mrs. Maria Hinojosa, Mr. Michael Perez, and Mr. Joe Jernigan will join our paraeducator team.

Here are some important back-to-school updates:

    • First day of school:  We’ll start on Wednesday, Aug. 25 with a ½-day (8:45—12 noon).

    • Your child’s teacher: By Friday, Aug. 20, your child’s teacher will connect with you to introduce him/herself.   Please stay in touch with your child’s teacher via email, phone, or in person each month.

    • ParentSquare: We will switch from Remind to a new program called ParentSquare for communicating with families.  You’ll receive a digital invitation to join ParentSquare on Aug. 18.

    • Open House:  You’re invited to our Open House on Tuesday, Aug. 24 from 6-7 pm.  Meet your child’s teacher, visit their classroom, enjoy community resources, and even get a free child haircut!

    • Roosevelt website: Check our Roosevelt website weekly for updates (www.ysd7.org/Roosevelt).

    • Bear Tracks Family NewsletterEvery Sunday, read our Bear Tracks newsletter to stay up-to-date.

    • School supplies:  School supplies will be provided for all students with the exception of backpacks and water bottles. (Families still have the option to purchase their own preferred school supplies.)

    • Laptops: Each child will have his/her own laptop.  Remember that your child is responsible to take care of his/her laptop and charger.  Loss or damages will result in financial obligation.

    • Masks and physical distancing:  The state requires everyone to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Roosevelt will follow and adapt to changing state/local safety guidelines—including masks, distancing, handwashing, cleaning, staying home when sick, testing, contact tracing, etc.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education.  This year will be different. Teaching and learning remotely will be a change for everyone. However, please know that we all have the same goal—all children learning and growing throughout this time.  We look forward to writing history one day at a time with you and your amazing child.

    Sincerely

    Nancy Smith
