Health and Wellness Education Center
The Mission of the Yakima School District Health and Wellness Education Center (HWE) is to nurture the growth, development, and educational success of students through culturally responsive physical and mental health care, comprehensive case management, disease prevention, and educational opportunities. With an emphasis on health equity, improved academic outcomes, and key strategic partnerships, the HWE supports families with age appropriate trauma informed care. School Immunization Changes
The Office of the Superintendent for Public Instruction (OSPI) formally recognized transitional kindergarten as part of kindergarten in 2018. As a result, the Department of Health updated the school immunization requirements.

Dual Language Program Expansion
The dual language program expanded into three more schools for the 2022-2023 school year: Hoover Elementary, McClure Elementary, and McKinley Elementary. Visit our Dual Language Webpage for more information.
New Learning Center
The Yakima School District will be opening a new learning center that will offer a variety of programs to support our students that benefit from online and other alternative learning options, as well as an expansion to our Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses and services. - K-5 and 6-8 Virtual Learning (Beginning Fall 2022)
- CTE Work-Based Learning Hub (Beginning Fall 2022)
- Home School Cooperative (Beginning 2023-2024 School Year)
Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC)
The Yakima School District seeks 24 community members to be part of a community-led committee. The committee will have two expected outcomes for the 2022-23 school year: (1) Identify top-priority YSD school facility problems to be solved in Phase 1 of a multi-phase, long-range facilities improvement plan and (2) Recommend a Phase 1 bond package to the YSD Board of Directors by June 2023. If you're interested in serving on this committee, please complete this survey by July 15, 2022.
District Wall Calendar
The Yakima School District will be mailing a wall calendar to all families and staff (one per household) before the start of school. It will contain important dates, reminders, resources, ways to stay connected, and much more!

Student, Parent, and Staff Handbook
Each year, the Yakima School District sends this handbook to the families of our students and to staff. It includes up-to-date information regarding the rights and responsibilities of students, their parents, staff, and the school district. Visit our handbook webpage to read the handbook.

New Student Enrollment
Enrollment assistance is available at school offices before and after the summer break. Summer break begins on June 17 and school offices reopen on August 1st for high school and August 11th for middle and elementary school. Immunizations & Sports Physicals
Required Immunizations & Clinics
Washington State Immunization Law requires all students attending public schools (preschool - 12th grade) to provide proof of immunization, a medical exemption signed by a physician, or an exemption signed by a parent or legal guardian before entering school.

Student Laptops
Students who do not have a district-assigned laptop will be provided a laptop at their school during normal school hours. Parents/guardians do not need to be present for their child to receive a laptop. Visit the Student Tech Support page for more information.
