Special Education

The Special Education Department works collaboratively with school and district leaders, teachers, students, and families to provide the tools, guidance, support, and services needed to ensure access and success for students with disabilities.

SES Mission Statement
It is the mission of Special Education Services to provide resources, professional development, and support to staff in order for students to access general education instruction in their least restrictive environment.

SES Vision Statement
It is our vision that every child, every day feels empowered, connected, supported, and engaged.

The Yakima School District maintains special education records for six years after services have ended. After this time, records are destroyed in accordance with state and federal law unless the parent/guardian or adult student requests otherwise.

While these records are no longer needed by the district after six years, they may be important to families or former students for future use.

Before records are destroyed, notification letters are mailed to parents/guardians and/or former students at the last known address on file. If you do not receive a letter but believe you may have records available to claim, please contact the Special Education office at 509-573-5060 or by email at ysd-sesrecords@ysd7.org.

Please allow 24 to 48 hours for processing. Proof of identification will be required when picking up records.
