Our Commitment to Accessibility
The Yakima School District is in the process of being enhanced to comply with the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C's) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA and the Web Accessibility Initiative Accessible Rich Internet Applications Suite (WAI-ARIA) 1.0 when planning for and developing online content and functionality. Where a web product cannot be brought into compliance, District staff will be responsible for providing alternative equivalent access upon request by an individual with a disability, except when doing so would impose an undue burden or create a fundamental alteration.
YSD is continuously working towards maintaining and extending its alignment with web accessibility standards. Over the past year, district and school websites were updated to a host system with a modern accessibility framework. We are now in the process of auditing and revising site content in order to bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall web accessibility.
