The Family and Community Engagement team provides leadership to families, the community, and staff to develop and implement family and community engagement programs, initiatives, and activities at the Yakima School District.
Questions & Answers From Soup With The Superintendent
- Why is academic support for special education children in Yakima so poor?
- In the future, have you thought about how you could improve the academic system for children with hearing problems?
- I'm curious to know why there is no supervision on the playground area until 8:30 am at elementary schools?
- What is the plan if a student is taking off the premises between 8:00 and 8:30 am?
- Are there any plans to improve the quality of the school’s lunches?
- Who is responsible at the building level to ensure food being served to students is not expired?
- We want to know why bullying continues to be down played at our schools. A bully does not deserve repeated chances to modify his or her behavior.
- What if I don’t agree with the results?
- I am curious about what is being done about drug use in schools. My daughter attended middle school last year and she frequently spoke about students selling drugs and vaping during school hours while on the premises.
- Why are the kids required to carry backpacks that weigh nearly as much as they do!
- Why aren’t there gender neutral bathrooms in high school, Ike is whom I’m referring to.
