Superintendent Biography

Trevor Greene

Dr. Trevor Greene is in his fifth year as Superintendent of Schools for the Yakima School District, a role he began in July of 2019. His district serves a student population that is over 80 percent Hispanic/Latinx, and over 83 percent “low income”, with more than 15 percent of the students receiving special services. Due to his efforts, the community is united around a strategic plan that focuses on student attendance, dual language, early learning, and on-time graduation.

In previous roles, Dr. Greene served students as a paraeducator, school security guard, teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district administrator. Dr. Greene has been honored as the Washington State Principal of the Year and National Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. More recently, he was recognized as one of the nation’s
"Superintendents To Watch” and nationally inducted into the Heads and Principals Association.

Dr. Greene is an enrolled member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation in Oklahoma and is bilingual in English and Spanish. He holds a Master’s degree from Central Washington University (Go Wildcats!), a Superintendent credential from Washington State University (Go Cougs!), and a Doctoral degree in
Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington (Go Dawgs!).

Dr. Greene serves on the regional advisory board for the Washington State Chapter of Teach for America and is a board member for the Seattle-based Children’s Alliance. Locally, he is a member of Downtown Rotary of Yakima and is a board member for the Downtown Association of Yakima.
