Assistant Superintendent of Finance Biography

Jake Kuper first started with Yakima School District as Interim Executive Director of Finance in 2022 and was quickly recognized for his innovative financial strategies. He introduced data-driven budgeting practices and reporting mechanisms that promote transparency and fiscal responsibility. Prior to YSD, Jake worked with the State Auditors’ Office and later as Chief Financial and Operating Officer at Issaquah School District. His expertise in finance has been instrumental in streamlining processes and enhancing collaboration across the district. Jake holds a degree in Political Science/Business Administration from Oregon State University and an MBA from Pacific Lutheran University. Outside of work, Jake has been married for 22 years to his wife Rachel. They have three children: Evie (21), Harrison (18), and Rose (12). He enjoys outdoor activities and cherishing moments with his family.
