Stanton Academy: Replacement

The replacement of Stanton Academy is one of the projects that Yakima voters approved by passing the 2009 school bond. In addition to the Stanton Academy project, the district-wide plan includes the replacement of Eisenhower High School, major modernization of Davis High School, and extensive work at Garfield, Hoover, McKinley and Nob Hill elementary schools, as well as at the Discovery Lab School.

Location: Prioir to construction, Stanton Academy  was located in a former elementary school building built in 1955 and located on Whitman Street in Union Gap. The site for the new school is approximately 4.5 acres located at 802 River Road, which is in the Yakima School District.

Design Goal: To create a safe and welcoming environment that will support teaching and learning, yet a school that is flexible and can readily adapt to changing technology.

Previous Facility Size: 24,913 square feet

New Facility Size: 48,860 square feet

Targeted Budget: $8.4 million. (The total cost, including the land, will be approximately $12.6 million.)
