Fresh Produce Boxes, Meal Packs, and Activity Kits For Students Before Winter Break
Posted by Ashley LaRiviere on 12/18/2020Schools across the district were busy throughout the day on December 16 as they distributed meal boxes, fresh produce, and activity kits for students in preparation for winter break. The fresh produce boxes contained 8-12 different types of produce from local and neighboring state farms. A special thanks to our local farmers; McIlrath Family Farms, Pacific Fresh Produce, and the Washington State Department of Agriculture. We also appreciate the staff support from Crafted Eatery & Single Hill for helping pack the boxes. Thank you for partnering together to provide nutritious local produce for our community! The Yakima Schools Foundation handed out student activity kits that shared information on how to practice #SafeCelebrations while having fun over winter break. The kits included coloring pages and mask making supplies. Students and/or parents can comment on any YSD #SafeCelebrations social media post with a picture of their coloring page or mask to be entered to win a prize! Winners will be announced on social media on January 4. -
